Although the different factions in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have, at different times and circumstances, a considerable influence in the mechanics and periodic violence and brutality displayed, it should not be forgotten that the causes go much deeper. That the military and political class of Israel can unleash savage aggression to remain in power, that the Palestinian Authority evades elections to prevent Hamas democratic gains or that Hamas uses rockets to cement its leadership in the resistance, are just contingent manifestations of a real colonial problem that has not been solved and cannot be solved without a revolutionary change. That the mass migration of Eastern European or American Zionists, helped by guilty and hostile colonial powers, has taken over an alien territory and displaced its ancient population mainly by force (in our own times), is a situation that cannot be evaded or ignored for long, especially when the rightful inhabitants of the region are not willing to give up their heroic resistance, no matter the cost. A two State 'solution' is no solution, as war will be inevitable if the Palestinian State is truly independent and builds a military. The only solution is a One State Solution, an atheistic State that could integrate all sides and the, all important, refugees. But that will be the end of Israel as we know it... and of many other Arab regimes. That is why they will carry on the slaughter.
