The strategic situation does not look good for Big Bear. Thus:
The near abroad is in rebellion, in a kind of Eurasian Spring, that will be put down only with a constant and brutal effort of repression, censorship and virtual civil war.
Eastern Europe is, simply, out of reach and even with a major conflict, would be extremely difficult to re-conquer.
The Caucasus is, little by little, sliding out of control and, the major regions at least, into the influence of Turkey and others.
Belarus is shaky to say the least.
Ukraine, even without regions of the East, will built strength by the day, if not protected by NATO directly.
Central Asia is sliding towards Islam and will, sooner or later, fall for Jihad as the only option left.
Syria is another front with Islamist contact.
Siberia, with China denouncing the unequal treaties, is always a possible source of conflict and Chinese cooperation and economic integration could open the doors to a flood.
At the moment, there does not seem to be a coherent strategy anywhere, only a desire to hold on to all, at all costs and by all means, including the most naked repression.
