إن فورباخ ينطلق من واقع أن الدين يُبعد الإنسان عن نفسه ، ويشطر العالم إلى عالم ديني موهوم وعالم واقعي . وعمله ينحصر في جر العالم الديني إلى قاعدته الأرضية . وهو لا يرى أنه متى انتهى هذا العمل ، يبقى الشيء الرئيسي غير منجز . والواقع أن القاعدة الأرضية تفصل نفسها عن نفسها وتنقل نفسها إلى السحاب بوصفها ملكوتا مستقلا . لا يمكن تفسيره إلا بالنزعات والتناقضات الداخلية الملازمة لهذه القاعدة الأرضية . يجب إذن ، أولا ، فهم هذه الأخيرة في تناقضها ، وبعد ذاك يجب تعديلها بشكل ثوري عن طريق إزالة هذا التناقض . وعليه ، حين يكتشف ، مثلا ، سر العائلة المقدسة في العائلة الأرضية ، يجب انتقاد العائلة الأرضية نفسها نظريا وتحويلها ثوريا بشكل عملي

Feuerbach geht aus von dem Faktum der religiösen Selbstentfremdung, der Verdopplung der Welt in eine religiöse, vorgestellte und eine wirkliche Welt. Seine Arbeit besteht darin, die religiöse Welt in ihre weltliche Grundlage aufzulösen. Er übersieht, daß nach Vollbringung dieser Arbeit die Hauptsache noch zu tun bleibt. Die Tatsache nämlich, daß die weltliche Grundlage sich von sich selbst abhebt und sich, ein selbständiges Reich, in den Wolken fixiert, ist eben nur aus der Selbstzerrissenheit und dem Sichselbst-Widersprechen dieser weltlichen Grundlage zu erklären. Diese selbst muß also erstens in ihrem Widerspruch verstanden und sodann durch Beseitigung des Widerspruchs praktisch revolutioniert werden. Also z.B., nachdem die irdische Familie als das Geheimnis der heiligen Familie entdeckt ist, muß nun erstere selbst theoretisch kritisiert und praktisch umgewälzt werden.

Feuerbach starts out from the fact of religious self-alienation and the duplication of the world into an imagined religious world and a real world. His work consists in resolving the religious world into its secular basis. He overlooks that, once this work is completed, the central task remains to be done. But the fact that the secular basis detaches from itself and fixes in the clouds as an independent realm can be explained only by the self-negation and self-contradiction within it. This must be first of all understood in the context of its contradictions, and then be revolutionised by the removal of those contradictions. Thus, for instance, once the earthly family is discovered to be the secret of the holy family, the former must then be theoretically critiqued and practically overthrown.
