A very shallow article that regurgitates the typical 'win-win' myths of the globalist oligarchies that created today's, unfair competition, China and is poor on analyses of the real situation in Syria and the world in general.

Neither the USA nor the West have been 'defeated' or stopped in Syria but, on the contrary, reinforced with the active military collaboration of Big Bear and Iran and the 'passive' role of China. Thus, regime change, a 'foggy' and speculative concept in most cases, was not and could not be the favoured policy of the West in Syria, as a really new regime would have been, most likely, a popular and revolutionary one and, therefore, full of potential to create a strong regional Arab power, on the lines of Iran. That would have created an, unbearable, mortal danger for Israel and the whole area, something that could not be contemplated at any stage.

It is, precisely, the West's unwillingness to intervene and effectuate regime change in Syria and its fanatic willingness to defend Israel, the premises that have created the political, diplomatic and military vacuum for Big Bear and Iran to intervene and crush the popular uprising that was on the verge of victory by attrition. The aim of the West was to debilitate Syria, not to facilitate a revolutionary government. In that sense, most Western objectives have been achieved, as the country lies in ruins, a considerable part of the population has fled, foreign troops are in control and recovery, to the same status quo ante, that is, to a relatively harmless unpopular Syria, will be long an painful. The reactionary West thanks Big Bear and Iran. The people has lost again.
